An ultrasonic tool is used by your hygienist to remove large deposits of plaque and tartar from your teeth during a dental cleaning. Then, using a hand tool, any remaining tartar is removed. Your teeth will also be polished to remove stains and create a smooth surface that makes it more difficult for new plaque to form. Finally, the hygienist will floss between your teeth and apply a fluoride treatment to strengthen the enamel and prevent cavities.
